Anglers can’t think of a better way to pursue their favorite hobby than a carp fishing vacation in France. Known for carps as big as 40 – 80 lbs., the French coastline, lakes, and rivers, are filled with some of the biggest carps in Europe. Rainbow Lake, Willow Lake, and L’Etang de Tricherie are home to a great number of 30 –pounders. Some of these privately owned lakes are an angler’s delight, offering a variety of travel and food packages, as well as the peace and tranquility needed on a fishing trip.

France has a number of warm locations that is ideal for carp fishing. The magnificent natural beauty of the countryside makes it a great location for carp fishing in france. The rivers of Seine, and Marine, are popular amongst anglers on the carp trail. However, make sure you follow the rules and regulations which vary in different locations. If you are heading for a privately owned lake then you may not need a permit, or else all the necessary permissions are taken care of by the owner. For fishing in public areas, anglers require a permit which costs around 7 Euros per day. If you plan to stay more than a week then it would be worth opting for a two-week permit for 30 Euros.  Among the other rules, fishing is only allowed from half an hour after sunrise to half an hour before sunset. If you need to extend your fishing hours, look for areas along the rivers Rhone, Mosselle, Seine, and Madine, which allow night fishing. Echo sounders or fish finders are not allowed and should not be used even if your boat has one installed.

Carps are known to grow in relation to the size of the lake, so head down to Lake Dijon if you want a shot at 30 lbs. plus carps. You may even get the chance to beat the record of 89 lbs. Make sure you carry baitrunner reels and a 2 ¾ curve rod in your kit since big carp need to be tackled with good equipment. Braided fishing lines are not allowed in many areas so make sure you carry monofilament lines, or you may not be able to fish in many places. Make sure you carry different types of bait since tiger nuts and certain ground baits aren’t allowed in some lakes.

There are several events for anglers that are held frequently, which include those by private lake owners, the state, and even international groups. So if you are game for some competition then head out to the area when these events are held. A large number of anglers from around the world, especially Britain, enjoy carp fishing in France. The rates for vacation packages differ according the amenities provided. So make sure you check prior to making a reservation. Fishing areas such as Willow Lake, and Croix Blance offer some exclusive holiday packages that includes fishing equipment and transport, apart from accommodation, so if you have the budget they may be worth trying.
